Corrlinks - The New Inmate Emailing System

There was a time not too long ago where if you wanted to contact a loved one that had been incarcerated you would have to send them a letter. The whole processes of writing a letter, posting it and then waiting for a response could take weeks depending on where the prison was that you were sending the letter to. As you now know the days of snail mail as it is called is in the past and the prison system has caught up with the times.

Corrlinks is an inmate emailing system that allows inmates to receive and send electronic messages to the outside world. The whole process takes as little as one hour from the time the email has been sent to the time it is received by the inmate.

Obviously there are restrictions on what can be sent for example pictures cannot be sent and all emails are screened by the prison to make sure that they comply with the guidelines that are put in place. As you will probably expect, this service is not free and there is a charge for each email that is sent.

Corrlinks - The New Inmate Emailing System

The good news is that the charge is minimal; the cost is around 5 cents per email. This service for some people is a God send as it cut down the time that it takes for an incarcerated love one to receive a message, instead of weeks it take hours.

For you to benefit from the Corrlinks emailing system you have to setup an account with them. This is very easy to set up and before you know it you will be sending and receiving emails in no time at all.

What's New for 2011 IRS Tax Return

So what is in store for us with the IRS tax return in 2011? Why is it a concern, the tax cuts that were made in 2009 are coming to an end. If nothing is done a lot of taxes could go right back up including estate taxes. So there is a lot of worry if Congress will renew the tax cut laws?

Changes for the Tax Preparer

Also another thing that is going to be changing in the IRS tax return this year is for the tax preparer. There are going to be some requirements if you are going to be a return preparer, and apply for compensation for it. The new requirements require all be screened to be a tax return preparer. In screening they must do they following:
- Be registered
- Be tested
- Have follow up with continuing education

What's New for 2011 IRS Tax Return

This is helping protect the people from fraudulent tax preparers that are out there online since so many are filing online these days. There really is no license needed to be a tax preparer, which is kind of scary considering our finances, are in these people's hands.

Also starting in January of 2011 it is going to be required by some IRS tax preparers to file electronically only and the paper mail in format will no longer be used.

Debt Indicator Removed

Starting in 2011 the IRS has stated that this year's IRS tax return the Debt indicator will be no longer used. The Debit Indicator was used in finding out your refund. Now with e -filing for your tax return and the turnaround being so quick there really is no need for the service any more thanks to electronic filing. You can file your IRS tax return online and get your refund within ten days. So there really is no use for the Debt Indicator any more.

Fist Time Home Buyer Credit Sill Available

The first time homebuyer credit is still going to be available this tax return season. The deadline has been extended till September 30 2010 so you if you are in a binding contract it has to be finalized by September 20 of 2010 for you to be able to apply it on your 2011 IRS tax return.

New Tax Forms

New tax forms are going to be rolling out this IRS tax return season as well. This coming IRS tax season businesses will have to fill out a 1099 if they have payment purchases of at least 0. It is also going to be required that firms that deal with credit or debit card payments will have to send their client and the IRS a form every year that states the transactions of the year. This is all to crack down on businesses that possibly do not pay what they owe by not reporting all income.

The Right Way to Set Up Your New Blu-ray Player

After having just gotten your new Blu-ray DVD Player, you will obviously be excited about testing it out. No doubt you will be anxious to see the glorious 1080p picture and High Definition sound quality. So the question is this: how to set up your new Blu-ray player to get the highest possible performance from it? Will it be as simple as connecting your DVD player? Will it be a breeze?

Not exactly!

When setting up your new Blu-ray player you have to keep in mind, this is a rather new technology, therefore over the past few years TVs and AV receivers have been adapting to conform to this new format. Unfortunately, you may discover not all of them can support every new feature of your Blu-ray player. This may make the process a little more difficult than setting up your standard DVD player. So I have outlined a few procedures and possible difficulties you might come across so that you can more easily incorporate your new Blu-ray player into your home entertainment system, hopefully without too much frustration.

The Right Way to Set Up Your New Blu-ray Player

Basically to get the best performance out of your Blu-ray player you need to understand three features: Picture, Sound, and Internet Connectivity. You will discover all three can be easily done with some simple cable connections; no fine-tuning necessary, just some simple modifications to the set-up menus maybe all that is required. Hopefully this advice will cut out any confusion and the whole process will go very smoothly for you.

Picture

1080p High Definition picture quality - this is why most people purchase their first Blu-ray Player and it is the best feature of any Blu-ray player. Blu-ray movies are stored on a disc in 1080p at 24 frames-per-second so you often see this referred to as 1080/24p. The director filmed the movie at this rate, so Blu-ray discs allow you to view the movie as it was originally meant to be seen. Blu-ray players allow you to watch these HD movies by connecting it's HDMI output to the duplicate input on your TV, so a HDMI cable will need to be purchased if one is not included with the Blu-ray player. In most cases a HDMI is not provided. HDMI cables can run anywhere from to 0. (Some argue there is no difference in HDMI cables, no matter what the cost.)

Not all Blu-ray players are capable of this 1080/24p output rate. These players will be older, and instead of the 1080/24p output rate they convert the signal to 1080/60p using a method called "3:2 pulldown' technique. What this simply means is one frame is played three times and the next frame is played twice and so forth. This results in one frame being shown on the TV screen slightly longer than the other. This produces judder into the picture, a slight moving or shaking of the picture.

To avoid this problem, a simple solution would be to purchase a newer model Blu-ray player. Most of the latest models can output 1080p pictures at 24 frames-per-second via HDMI. Also, your TV set must be able to support it. If it does not, then if you feed a signal of 1080/24p into a TV which can not support it, the TV will convert the signal to 50 or even 60HZ. This will also place judder into the picture.

What this all comes down to is to get the best, purest and most genuine High Definition picture possible, you require a Blu-ray Player capable of a 1080/24p output signal (this is easily selected on the set-up menu) and a TV capable of supporting this signal. Most of the newer LCD and Plasma televisions will give you the right support you need. LCD sets usually have a 120Hz mode, where each of the 24 frames is repeated five times and shown on the screen for the same amount of time, producing no juddering. Plasma usually has 72Hz 3:3 pulldown mode and they can use this because they do not have as much slowdown as the LCD.

Sound

The second feature most people purchase the Blu-ray for is the perfect sound quality. Blu-ray has the superior 'lossless' Dolby True HD and DTS HD Master Audio. What you get with these audio formats is 100 percent identical to the original studio master track. This is a clear advantage over DVDs which use Dolby Digital and DTS, but again as with the picture signal, not all AV receivers are capable of decoding the newer High Definition formats.

Set up is fairly easy if your receiver can decode the formats because both HD formats can be used via the Blu-ray player's HDMI output port and the HDMI input port on the receiver. This allows a bitstream (meaning raw digital data) to be transferred to your AV receiver where it is decoded into multichannel sound. All you need to do is set your Blu-ray player's HDMI output to bitstream or primary. The HDMI ports on these devices must be specified as version 1.3/1.3a/1.3b. These are the only versions that allow for the transmitting of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Audio. You will also need a Second HDMI Cable to connect the AV receiver's HDMI output to your TV's HDMI input. The AV receiver will decode the audio and transmit the 1080/24p video signal.

Things can get a little trickier if your AV receiver does not decode the HD audio formats. However, it does not mean you can not still enjoy the great high quality sound. One option available to you is to set up your Blu-ray player to internally decode the audio and convert it to LPCM (an uncompressed form of audio). This option is located in the set-up menu and found on almost every Blu-ray player. LCPM can be transferred over any version of HDMI and it preserves the high multichannel sound quality of both Dolby True HD and DTS HD. This way your receiver does not have to do any decoding. (Take note that some lesser Blu-ray players will only convert 5.1 Dolby Digital or DTS into LPCM.)

This LCPM option assumes your AV receiver has HDMI inputs. If it does not have these HDMI inputs, then your best option is to look for Blu-ray Players that can decode the HD sound formats into high quality analogue and output them from multichannel outputs. Using optical or coaxial outputs which are usually found on most players can not be used because the do not have the sufficient bandwidth capabilities to transmit Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Audio.

Internet Connectivity

Most newer Blu-ray players have a feature called BD Live which allows you to download content from the internet, play games online and participate in web chats. To use this feature you need a Blu-ray player with a Profile 2.0 since these Blu-ray players have an Ethernet port you can use to connect to an internet router or computer. (Profile 1.1 may have an Ethernet port but WILL NOT SUPPORT BD LIVE.)

Also, you may need a USB flash memory drive or SD card to plug into your Blu-ray player. This provides digital storage for updates and extra data. It's recommended that the drive or card be at least 1 GB. Other than the PlayStation 3, no other Blu-ray players on the market have internal memory built-in, but some newer Blu-ray players are now unveiling Wi-Fi, eliminating the need for external storage.

Conclusion

Hopefully, by checking all three factors discussed above - Picture, Sound, and Internet Connectivity - will make setting up your new Blu-ray player a lot easier. Just follow all the steps and you will get the best picture and sound quality that only a Blu-ray system can deliver. Happy viewing!

Benefits and Drawbacks of an Electronic Health Record

Electronic Health Record or EHR as they are more popularly known have emerged as the most needed and the most basic healthcare software. EHR have proved to be the backbone of the health insurance exchange and health information exchange. The medical information stored in the EHR is sourced by the exchange platforms to give more information about insurance and health plans.

Though storing of information in electronic form is always a good idea, it has its side effects too. Here is a look at some of the benefits and disadvantages of adopting Electronic Health Records.

ADVANTAGES:

Benefits and Drawbacks of an Electronic Health Record

1. Though the process of converting paper records to EHR may seem costly, the National Health Accounts will have some major savings up it sleeves. This could in turn be invested in better healthcare facilities and government sponsored health insurance programs. After the implementation of the EHR, Medicare will be able to receive about billion more in federal funding.

2. With the EHR getting implemented the margin of error and misinterpretation of the medical data will be minimized. Access of data to all those who are authorized to do so including all the healthcare service providers involved will ensure that the patient does not have to undergo the same tests repeatedly. Also in cases of emergency healthcare can be administered faster as doctors will have easier and quicker access to the medical history of the patient.

3. A record of previous medical history, the medicine taken and the surgeries undertaken will form the basis for further course of treatment. The effectiveness of the previous treatments can be reviewed and analyzed before deciding the new course of action.

4. The large amount of clinical data available through the Electronic Health Records will form the basis of several researches for effective medical practices.

5. Electronic data is easy to store and can be interconnected to form a bigger grid with more access to a larger number of people. This will lead to greater mobility of information.

DISADVANTAGES

1. The entire process of converting all the paper record to electronic format could prove to be really expensive.

2. The process is time consuming as well.

3. Many conservative doctors and healthcare service providers may not be too receptive about the intervention of healthcare IT and healthcare softwares in providing medical care.

Healthcare software such as the Electronic Health Records have played a major role in making IT an intrinsic part of the health industry. However, the disadvantages of these softwares need to be tackled so that benefits of implementing these softwares can become more effective.

How Do You Know the Age of a Stone Arrowhead?

When you find an arrowhead, or someone shows you an arrowhead, how can you tell how old it is?

A lot of the answer for how old an arrowhead is depends upon the type of stone the point in question is made from. Old flint tends to get coarser and turn lighter colors, towards white even, if it is exposed to sunlight and air and rain and freezing over time. However, if it is buried, sometimes there is very little apparent aging, unless the soil itself is chemically acting on the surface of the flint. I have found buried points and blades, which, after I washed them, were almost as smooth and unchanged as new materials. So, you then look for deposits of minerals from the buried condition. Also, if flint has been exposed to the atmosphere, often the exposed side of a flint point is quite discolored relative to the unexposed side. This is a good indication of age.

If the point is obsidian, especially in a desert area, and it has been exposed on the surface of the ground, the exposed side many times is somewhat polished by wind and blowing dust or sand. The underside is more original in feel, or it is often coated with chemical deposits from the soil. In addition, in desert or normal weather pattern areas, obsidian is affected by rain and other moisture over time, and gets what is called a "hydration rind" on the outer surface. This tends to dull the originally shiny, slick appearance of the flaked stone. It makes an outer layer of changed material, due to the absorption of minute amounts of water, that is thicker depending on the length of time of the exposure to the elements. Archaeologists have even taken to calibrating the age of obsidian points or tools based on the thickness of the hydration rind in a known area. This is done by comparing a sequence of rind measurements to ages determined by other accepted dating methods, C14, tree rings, etc., to set up a scale to get a rough age for a piece based on the thickness of the rind. The rind thickness can be observed by cutting a slice through an expendable obsidian tool.

How Do You Know the Age of a Stone Arrowhead?

Yet additional indicators of possible age are the style, size and source location of a point. Many styles of points were unique to certain time periods, which enables the observer to position the point in a time sequence. Also, many specific styles were used in specific regions, which also helps to identify the cultural identity of a particular piece. And, the material from which a particular regional style of point is made is generally known, at least to experienced collectors. So, when a point made of an abnormal, atypical material for a particular style is exhibited, the likelihood of modern production increases.

These concepts are just the beginning of the discussion of determining the age of an arrowhead.

Artifact authenticators also examine the edges of the points under high magnification to observe natural aging and "use wear" patterns vs. chemical aging or mechanical wear and tear with metal or other modern materials.

Mixed, confused or varying chipping and flaking styles indicate possible reworking of a point, either in ancient times to refurbish the edge or tip of the point for re-use, or in modern times to reshape it into an apparently complete tool.

Additional analytical methods come into play after an examination of the consistency and style of flaking patterns on a point or tool.

Authenticators can observe knapped stone surfaces under special light to see the potential difference in the age of the visible surfaces. Old surfaces and new surfaces react differently to certain kinds of light, and are visibly different to the eye under that special light. This difference between old and new stone surfaces also enables the detection of potentially modern rechipping of old points to reshape them.

This information can help collectors to make sure of what they are purchasing or acquiring by trade. And it will help identify the native culture and time period of the pieces which they find, in the field or through the various connections which are available, such as the internet and regional artifact shows.

Tips For Using Electronic Communication in the Workplace

On the first day back at work this year an employee at one of my clients sent an email containing her new year's resolutions to her to all the email addresses in her work group - by mistake. She had meant to send the email to her friends group, but had clicked the wrong button. The email included a graphic outline of her strategy for moving up the corporate ladder which meant walking over a few important people, one of which was her immediate boss. Now understand that this email went to her entire work, supplier and customer database - including her boss and the CEO. As if that was not bad enough it also listed her romantic desires pertaining to one of her colleagues.

In today's world, with all the buzzing and beeping of new technological gadgets, communication is changing daily. Instead of sending a business letter across the ocean, you can save on postage and speed up the delivery by emailing the letter in a quick second - and it will be received by more than one recipient immediately. You can page or 'MSM' your co-worker instead of playing phone tag while trying to reach them. The workplace is often filled with the sounds of email box alerts and faxes being received and sent out and the printer is almost always hot with some department's weekly schedule. While email and other forms of electronic communication available to us in the workplace have huge benefits there is also a down side if they are not used carefully.

By using email, Facebook, MySpace, forums, USENET news groups, electronic bulletin, twitter, blogs, instant messaging, text messaging, Skype and other electronic forms of communication messages are sent far and wide very quickly. We don't always take time to read our messages after we have compiled them and are quick to hit the send button. This can get us into trouble.

Tips For Using Electronic Communication in the Workplace

There are advantages and disadvantages of email. Although the advantages outweigh the disadvantages we need to practise caution.

Here are a few guidelines for avoiding problems when using electronic communication in the workplace:

- Double check the recipients of your email before sending. Make sure that you are not sending it to the wrong people. The damage done to the above mentioned person's reputation was severe and could not be undone. In addition she had a disciplinary hearing. It may be advisable to set up an account with one of the free e-mail services and use that account for personal emails instead of your work email address.

- Be careful when clicking 'reply to all' on an email. Do you need to include all those people in the communication?

- Think twice before copying people, such as the recipient's boss, on an email where there is a dispute or disagreement. Try to resolve issues first without this aggressive approach. It will cause ill feelings. Sending an electronic message is more permanent than a verbal conversation. People calm down and feelings change with time but an email or electronic communication can stay around forever. You can't get it back once it has been sent and it can be used against you.

- Discuss sensitive issues in person. Don't put them in writing as they can be forwarded, copied and pasted and taken out of context.

- Don't send a message when you are upset or annoyed.

- Don't send anything electronically about a person, if you would not be happy with them seeing it.

- Remember to check previous communication in the message body and delete them if necessary.

- Messages placed on news groups has your name attached to it and can be searched by anyone for years to come. Many employers do internet searches to see what they can find about employees or potential employees. Before you place such information consider whether you would you want a prospective employer to see that type of information.

Free email tracing services will find the e-mail address of a person by means of a quick e-mail address search. Some sites specialize in locating email addresses by doing free email address searches such as the Hotmail email account search. This means that you can be tracked down and can end up receiving unwanted spam.

Don't be put off by the negatives of email. Email is extremely convenient. I can check my email online and can check email from any computer, anywhere in the world. There is an abundance of free e-mail providers such as AOL e-mail, Yahoo e-mail, Hotmail email addresses directory and even kids free email accounts.

Electronic communication is about working more effectively and powerfully in the workplace. It's about communicating the many messages you have to get across in the clearest way possible and as quickly as possible.

Use modern technology available to you to be resourceful in getting your message across? One particularly useful tool for effective employee communication is the intranet. The benefits of the intranet are high. The purpose of the intranet is to provide information to staff quickly and timeously. Fedex ground HR intranet and United Airlines employee intranet Skynet are examples of successful intranets.

You could post your presentation on the company intranet - that way your company saves paper and money, plus it has the advantage that employees can view the slide show whenever they please. You can create awareness on all workplace communication issues like never before.

Below are some other types of electronic communication and ways to use them.

- Use an electronic internal newsletter to drive regular communication on a monthly, fortnightly or weekly basis. Encourage two-way communication through the newsletter by using an electronic team briefing medium via Skype or video conferencing and include discussion topics requiring feedback. Feedback can be done via a questionnaire attached to a PDF.

- Use an email signature to communicate a further message such as greening the environment or to promote recycling. This message can be added below the person's name and contact details. Each message can be tailor made with a specific message that is relevant.

- Electronic teasers and flash mailers can be used instead of posters and leaflets.

- An electronic vote line can be set up on the intranet or internet.

- SMS or MMS messages can be sent to staff member's cell phones.

- Include interactive, fun electronic elements that are quick and easy to update such as electronic games.

In summary, we are living in exciting times in terms of communication as we have a variety of exciting tools at our disposal. There is no longer any excuse for submitting boring communications.

Used Kitchen Cabinets for Sale - The Best Place to Find Them on Sale

Old Kitchen Cabinets look really outdated and battered. I have a couple of them that sure need treatment. But instead of spending thousands of dollars buying a new cabinet, I know some really cool places where you can get used kitchen cabinets for sale.

You might not be buying a new house but you may want to refurbish that old lake house of yours. My advice would be to look for some used kitchen cabinets for sale that can be gotten for a fraction of the price that new cabinets command.

So where can I find used kitchen cabinets for sale that aren't heavy on my wallet? Well, I'll tell you the top 3 places that I personally use to find these used cabinets.

Used Kitchen Cabinets for Sale - The Best Place to Find Them on Sale

Salvage Yard - All those cabinets that people discard find their way to a salvage yard near your home. So you can get really high-priced cabinetry for a fraction of the original cost. And what's more if you can find these used cabinets for sale at a salvage yard near your home, you can easily install them at your place without going in for any unnecessary refurbishing. The only downside is you'll have to keep visiting the salvage yard because they keep getting new inventory and you might not find some nice buts used kitchen cabinets for sale the very first time you visit that place

Craigslist - Yes, you heard it right! That very place that people post ads on. People store away their old cabinets in the garage or store-room rather than pay for getting the old stuff hauled away. Rather, they place ads on Craigslist and advertise them for sale. What's even better is since they are local listings; you can find some great used kitchen cabinets for sale in your locality itself. And even if they're not available locally, you can always have them shipped to you. It will still work out cheaper than having to buy a new cabinet.

Online Sites - Online sites are actually my favorite place for finding old and used kitchen cabinets for sale. The prices are the least than all the other options and some of these online sites even offer free shipping. What's more is that you can choose from a large variety sitting in the comfort of your home and order them at a click of a button. And just to mention it again, you get a great deal with the maximum savings possible.
